OUR MISSION

Mission Statement: Star's Charter School's mission is to prepare male students to master a rigorous curriculum and develop skill sets to effectively interact at home, with peers, community, and the global society.

Single-gender education can promote academic and social success for a segment of students.  Offering single gender education is an effort to enhance student achievement for a diverse student population that is not currently served by a single-gender public elementary school.

Also, there is no school in our district with a curriculum that addresses the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) needs of students.  In a SEL environment students will employ the five competencies of SEL (self-confidence and motivation, knowing expected behaviors, curving impulses to misbehave while being able to wait and follow directions, knowing how to ask for help and expressing needs, and getting along with others) within their daily classroom experiences. As a result, students will be better prepared to take care of themselves, their community, participate in the global society, develop one’s leadership abilities, and realize the moral implications of one’s actions.

The Star Charter School curriculum will embed Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) project-based learning (PBL) experiences to provide our students with frequent in-depth opportunities to practice their academic, social, emotional knowledge and skills in real-world contexts.  By beginning in the elementary grades, Star Charter School will provide students an early exposure to the caliber of intellect, deportment, and drive required to be effective contributors and participants in their community.  Students will see the curriculum come alive by connecting learning to real-world issues and needs.
